On Saturday February 1st 2014 Cazfest held a Battle of the Bands competition in the Castle Theatre, Hertford.
Six schools were invited to compete and in all seven bands played to a packed theatre. Judged by experts from the music industry the bands each played two sets and were then given constructive comments on how they had played and how they might improve in the future.
Schools that were represented were:
The Bishop's Stortford High School, Freman College in Buntingford, Simon Balle in Hertford, Sele in Hertford, Leventhorpe in Sawbridgeworth and Chauncy in Ware.

The judges included Janice Brook, VP International Acquisitions for Sony/ATV, Hector Bailey, the Head Scout from Sony/ATV and Kevin Saunders of The Trash and Los Ladrones, the organiser of Rock at The Castle and the Hertford Musical Mystery Tour.
Councillor Graham McAndrew, Leader of East Herts District Council kindly selected Cazfest as his charity of the year. The Battle of the Bands was seen as an excellent way of getting the Cazfest brand and objectives known to other schools in the East Herts district. Graham said,
“I am delighted so many schools accepted the invitation and were represented tonight. It was great to give these bands an opportunity to play in front of a packed theatre and be given expert comments from the judges. I am sure they will remember the event for a long time.”
Having to choose a winner from the bands that played was a very difficult decision for the judges but the winners were Redwood from Freman College, Buntingford. Congratulations to Redwood!
